AI is changing the game in recruiting—but how much of what we hear is hype, and what’s the real impact for hiring managers? This interactive session will bring clarity to the conversation by defining essential AI concepts, identifying what works in practice, and addressing where organizations need to tread carefully.

Moderator Jason Krumwiede will lead a candid discussion with global talent leaders Rob Navarrette (WTW) and Lance Sapera (Barracuda) to explore how hiring managers can use AI more effectively in the hiring process. Trent Cotton of iCIMS will provide an analytical perspective to the discussion. The panel will provide practical examples, low- or no-cost tools, and insights on how AI strengthens collaboration with recruiters, reduces risk, and drives smarter hiring decisions. Attendees will leave with actionable guidance and greater confidence in applying AI responsibly.

What you'll learn

  • Separate the Hype from Reality: Understand the essential AI terms (like 'Agentic AI' and 'LLM') a hiring manager must know, identify common 'AI flops' and the key questions to ask vendors to ensure real ROI.
  • Gain Immediate, Practical Wins: Discover actionable, zero-budget ways to use free, public-facing GenAI tools today for better job descriptions, stronger behavioral interview questions, and quick market analysis.
  • Optimize Data and Collaboration: Learn the single most valuable piece of data a hiring manager should demand from their TA partner, and explore how AI is fundamentally strengthening the partnership between recruiters and hiring managers.
  • Navigate Risk and Validity: Get practical guidance on handling the 'AI vs. AI' dynamic (candidates using AI), addressing the 'deep fake' problem to ensure candidate validity, and implementing the one key guideline to avoid legal or bias risk when using AI.
  • Drive Strategic Change: Understand where AI is forcing the biggest positive behavioral shifts in hiring managers (e.g., focusing on skills), and learn the non-negotiable legal clauses to insist on for vendor accountability and how to ensure systems catch valuable non-traditional talent.
